Restoration Service Terms and Conditions

This page describes the nature of the work performed by CraftCard, the potential technical risks, and the limitations related to the result, commercial value, and any subsequent grading.

Important Information

Restoration is carried out with controlled procedures and the utmost care. However, collectible cards are dated, multi-layered materials often with an unknown conservation history. For this reason, it is not technically possible to guarantee a specific result 100% or the absolute absence of unexpected reactions.

01 Service Scope

The CraftCard restoration service is for collectible cards that exhibit dirt, surface scratches, lifted corners or edges, creases, indentations, deformations, and other damage compatible with the treatments selected by the customer.

Interventions may include, depending on the card's condition:

  • Surface cleaning and treatment.
  • Polishing and reduction of surface scratches.
  • Controlled humidification.
  • Pressing and stabilization.
  • Controlled use of heat.
  • Localized treatment of creases, indentations, corners, and edges.
  • Drying and final stabilization of the card.

The actual techniques used are chosen by CraftCard based on the conditions found during the direct examination of the card.

02 Nature and Condition of Cards

Collectible cards are multi-layered paper products sensitive to moisture, pressure, temperature, adhesives, chemicals, and handling.

Cards, especially older ones, may have undergone improper storage, prior treatments, contact with water, heat, humidity, detergents, solvents, or other substances not detectable during the initial inspection.

The internal structure, adhesives, inks, holographic surface, and other materials may therefore react in a not entirely predictable manner to the treatment.

03 Objective and Limitations of the Work

CraftCard performs every intervention with care and through procedures deemed appropriate to the card's condition.

The service aims to reduce or improve existing defects but does not guarantee:

  • Complete elimination of all damage.
  • Restoration of the card to its original condition.
  • A precise or predetermined aesthetic result.
  • Absolute absence of variations during or after treatment.
  • An increase in the card's commercial value.

The result depends on the initial condition, the severity of the damage, the age of the card, the materials used in its production, and its prior conservation history.

04 Technical Risks

During or after processing, defects already present in the card's structure may manifest or become visible.

Possible risks include, by way of example:

  • Deformations or variations in flatness.
  • Separation or lifting of layers.
  • Re-opening of creases or indentations.
  • Surface variations.
  • Localized alterations of the holographic part.
  • Micro-fractures or weakening of already compromised areas.
  • Loss or variation of pigment.
  • Changes in card rigidity.
  • Worsening of pre-existing structural damage.
  • Unpredictable reactions due to previous treatments, contamination, or unknown conservation.

The occurrence of such events is not the ordinary outcome of the work, but it cannot be completely excluded when dealing with dated, fragile, or cards with an unknown conservation history.

05 Information Provided by the Customer

The customer must communicate, to the best of their knowledge, any:

  • Previous restorations or repair attempts.
  • Contact with water or other liquids.
  • Exposure to high temperatures.
  • Use of detergents, solvents, glues, or other substances.
  • Pre-existing alterations, detachments, or fragility.
  • Other events that may have modified the card's structure.

CraftCard is not responsible for consequences directly resulting from relevant omitted, incomplete, or inaccurate information.

06 Suspension or Modification of Work

Should conditions emerge during examination or processing that make the intervention excessively risky, CraftCard may:

  • Temporarily suspend work.
  • Modify the initially planned procedure.
  • Not perform a portion of the intervention.
  • Contact the customer before proceeding.

The objective is to avoid interventions that, after direct examination of the card, prove disproportionate to the concrete possibilities of improvement.

07 Grading and Card Valuation

CraftCard does not guarantee:

  • The achievement of a specific grade.
  • The improvement of a previous grade.
  • Acceptance of the card by a grading company.
  • An increase in economic value.
  • The non-detection of interventions performed.

Grading companies apply autonomous criteria, analysis techniques, and regulations. They may classify, penalize, flag, or reject a card that has undergone interventions, regardless of the aesthetic result obtained.

The decision to subsequently send the card to a grading company remains the customer's responsibility.

08 Declared Value Range

The customer selects the range corresponding to the estimated current value of the card before processing.

The declared range may be verified by CraftCard. In case of a clearly incongruous value, the service may be suspended until confirmation of the correct range and any price difference.

The declaration of value does not constitute a professional appraisal, a guarantee of value, or a promise about the card's future value.

09 Shipping

Shipping of the card to CraftCard is organized and paid for by the customer.

It is recommended to use trackable shipping and packaging suitable for card protection.

CraftCard is not responsible for loss, delays, or damage occurring before the actual delivery of the package.

Return shipping is calculated at checkout and is not subject to any free shipping promotions on the website.

10 Responsibility

CraftCard performs the service with the diligence required by the nature of the activity and using procedures deemed appropriate to the conditions found.

To the extent permitted by law, CraftCard is not responsible for negative outcomes directly attributable to:

  • The intrinsic fragility of the card.
  • Pre-existing, internal, or non-visible defects.
  • The prior conservation history.
  • Previously undeclared interventions.
  • The normal technical risk of authorized treatments.
  • Inaccurate or incomplete information provided by the customer.
  • Decisions or evaluations subsequently made by grading companies or other third parties.

All liabilities that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law remain.

Acceptance of Terms

By adding the card to the cart, the customer declares to have read and understood these terms.

The customer also declares to be aware of the nature and risks of the work, to understand that the result cannot be 100% guaranteed, and that no grading result or increase in commercial value is guaranteed.

By adding to the cart, the customer authorizes CraftCard to perform the selected interventions and those technically necessary and compatible with the purchased service.

12 Terms Updates

CraftCard may update these terms to adapt them to the procedures used, the evolution of the service, or applicable regulations.

For each order, the version of the terms available at the time of purchase applies.
